“Coterie Chair” by Tyrone Williams

Coterie Chair

the music, having not yet rested…

Once upon a first, two pursue
one another around a third, the throne
of abbreviated extensions however throng
threat. Both, pursued by each other’s
wake, taken for a gathering storm,
jack-and-jill-o’-lanterns (as-is lamps
nee decapitated –poles. The drag
queen effect circulates as butch
capital—circumcises prosthetic apps:
boo! [nee book], says the step up,
step down, an Escheresque Zenosum
from top from bottom, closet to close-up,
where a wide sashay is said to segue
yo-yo style: hip-hop hip-drop.
