Dis/Courses

Scholarship is not reserved for the lecture halls and libraries of elite institutions that are in part defined by their limited access, the few they include, everyone they keep out. Crucial, innovative, radical scholarship can happen any time readers and thinkers -- which is to say potentially anyone and everyone -- gather together to discuss, explore, and share their knowledge, together creating not only new knowledge, but also new ways of knowing. In Dis/Courses, The Poetry Project -- long engaged with this form of scholarly work through its workshops, talk series, and community meetings -- celebrates and continues this tradition of learning together through a new series of free and open, facilitated discussion groups in the Parish Hall on Thursday evenings.

Each meeting will have a particular topic, connected in some way to upcoming events and readers at The Poetry Project, and participants will be invited to RSVP in advance to receive a packet of readings and other material to begin the conversation. Reading in advance, however, will not be required, nor will be any particular education background or expertise. Come, talk about poetry and possibility, teach, learn, share, and connect more deeply with The Poetry Project community.
