This photograph of Akilah Oliver (with one of her frequent collaborators, Tyler Burba) was taken by Greg Fuchs on January 1, 2011 at our 37th Annual New Year’s Day Marathon Reading. She was an integral and irreplaceable part of the Poetry Project family; she performed here many times, coordinated the Monday Night Readings, contributed to the Newsletter and taught writing workshops. We are heartbroken, and grateful to have learned so much from her work and grace in the world. SS
